Childrens Drop In Program

Engage with the rich history, geology, flora, and fauna of Blair County through interactive learning, craft activities, and nature play experiences tailored for
children of all ages.

Program Details

● Drop-in program: Available Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, running from June 1
through August 10.
● Please note that all events, programs, and activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted or canceled in case of inclement weather.
● Important: All minors must be accompanied by a parent and/or legal guardian.

Evening Critter Walk

Join Us for a Nighttime Exploration of Owls, Bats and Bugs in the Forest

Have you ever strolled through a forest at night and wondered about the life hidden in the shadows?

The nighttime world is full of surprises and unique creatures. Now you can explore it firsthand! Join wildlife biologist Julie Zeyzus at NatureWorkspark for an engaging evening walk where we will see and hear the owls, bats, and various bugs that make the forest alive after dark.

June – August

Gardening
  • Invasive plant maintenance & weeding
  • Planting, mulching and watering the beds
  • Keeping the demonstration gardens healthy

Trails: May & Aug · Trash: Year-round

Trails & Grounds
  • Trash pick-up and emptying cans, year-round
  • Weed, trim and mulch the Wildlife Trail
  • Keep paths clear and welcoming for visitors

September & February

Bluebird Boxes
  • Clean out boxes once the season's birds have left
  • Check boxes for maintenance issues
  • Make sure each box is secure for next season

STREAM BUFFER
  • Plant trees and live stakes in the fall
  • Carry out buffer maintenance in the spring
  • Help restore and protect local waterways

SEASONAL EVENTS

EVENTS & DOCENTS
  • Serve as a docent or parking attendant
  • Prep before events — clean signs, set up tents, help vendors
  • Run teaching stations at Water Festivals
  • Help with the Monday drop-in program, 10 am–12 pm

YEAR - ROUND

Monitoring & Gathering
  • Collect water-quality data with the Stream Guards network
  • Gather natural materials — pinecones, pods, berries, feathers
  • Supply our seasonal wreath-making classesaserve as a mediat
